Dear
Club Secretaries, Players and Organisers,
It feels a long time since we
came top of the league, with our win against Greater Manchester Sunday 12th November.
Lots has happened since then (I got to play and then later Captain the
u1850s!), with the Open team, 1850s and 1650s joining us in the national
stages.
The draw for
the quarter finals are now out: League
Table | ECF League Management System (ecflms.org.uk)
Opponent: Kent
Date: Likely to occur Saturday 11th May.
Potentially before.
Location: Probably around Syston
and to agree with Kent
Time
control:
135 minutes + 15s increment
Eligibility:
- Under 1450 (K
or A) grade as of the 1st September or first K rating
since then
- If you have a provisional
rating and want to play, let me know and I can discuss with the
competition controller.
- Birth in the
county, 2 month immediate club membership and one month living in the
county. Have not played for another County this season.
Please can
you signal if you are interested in playing, whilst I get hold of a
firm date and location.
Previous
players / Coaches / Secretaries / Yorkshire Chess News – Please can you
circulate this round your players and let’s get a team together to win
this?
A few
observations. For the last three years we have put in a mix of adults and
juniors, to provide experience of the county league. This is really bearing
fruit as we have had previous team members, Alex Burke, Shri Ganti, Elinor
Gorrell, Angelica Rowe, Isaac Fossey, Shri Ganti, Charlie Wainwright, Toby
Quaite, Nathan Madzia and many others, all playing for the higher teams.
Two last round (Alex and Isaac), played in the 2050s.
We are
getting stronger as a county.
Kind
regards,
Steve Westmoreland
