These are merged into
one Swiss Event, there being three trophies to be won: the Bruce Trophy
(championship proper), Holroyd Trophy (what used to for what was
called Class B) and Shapero Trophy (Class C). Entries this
year were down to 14, which has meant the “seeding” which determines
eligibility for the separate trophies has had to be pragmatically modified
to fit circumstances. Also, controller Geoff Brown plans to have only
5 rounds instead of 6 (unless there are extreme objections), as Swiss
pairings in round 6 for a 14-player group of players would be “not pretty”
and undermine the principles of the Swiss system.
