Start of Yorkshire League for 2022-23

The first round of matches in the 2022-23 Yorkshire League was played on Saturday 24/09/2022, in what is hoped will prove to be post-Covid normality, though the fact that some players are in no hurry to return to regular over-the-board chess means numbers of teams are slightly down.

Sheffield is down to only two teams, and 2022-23 is the first season in living memory, indeed virtually all of the history of the competition, in which Sheffield was not had a team in the Woodhouse Cup.  Sheffield A, captained by Daniel Sullivan, is in the Woodhouse Cup competition (division 1) and Sheffield B, captained by Geoff Brown, is in the I. M. Brown Shield competition (division 2).
