|   Circus, Bath, is
a circular road with a grassed area in the middle in the centre of which is
a clump of trees. Three roads run
off Circus, thus dividing the buildings around Circus into three crescents,
Brock Street, Bennett Street, and Gay Street.   Somersetshire
College, which was started by the Rev. Hay Sweet Escott, occupied number 11
Circus, on the north corner with Brock Street which is visible to the
left.  It was architecturally indistinct from the other properties on
circus, and did not occupy a purpose-built school building.   The Rev. Edward Pelham
Pierpoint was first mathematical master here for about 12 years, while Edmund Thorold was an assistant
master here for about 16 years.   |
