Yorkshire-Related Articles in ECF Newsletter “ChessMoves”

Articles by two Yorkshire players appear in the June issue of the ECF e-newsletter:

One suspects Steve Westmoreland got talking to Mark Rivlin either on 11/06/2022 where Mark was playing for Essex against Yorkshire in the U-1850 semi-finals, or possibly at the corresponding U-1450 quarter-final match on 14/05/2022.  Mark is part of the newsletter “team”; less widely known is the fact that his father, Abba Rivlin, was the first Leeds junior chess champion and in adult life an Honorary Life Member of the YCA.

Steve W sent in an article (on page 38) about experiences captaining the Yorkshire U-1450, in particular the lost quarter-final match on 14/05/2022.

Paul Townsend gives an update (on page 42) on the exploits of Maksym Kryshtafor, the Ukrainian under-8 champion who with his mother is now living with the Townsend family in Kirk Hammerton, after arriving in this country on the Wednesday two days before he was to play in the Durham Congress where he scored 5 out of 5 in the Minor.  An earlier article about Maksym by Tim Wall appeared in the May newsletter https://www.englishchess.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Chess-Moves-May-2022.pdf (on page 19).
