Scarborough Congress, 2021

 

After missing a year in 2020, due to Covid, the Scarborough Congress was held again from 29th to 31st October 2021, at the customary venue, the Ocean Room of the Spa Complex, South Bay, Scarborough.  Somewhat belatedly, the event was allocated the Yorkshire Championship which otherwise might not have taken place at all, and Andrew Ledger of Sheffield was the winner.

 

The Open section was FIDE-rated.

 

Reduced entries were anticipated (and may have been limited by the venue due to Covid), but the usual five sections were still conducted.  A comparison of participant numbers this year as compared to 2019 gives the following (counting “participants” broadly as entrants who played at least one game):
