English Chess Championships 2022
Sheffield player
Oskar Hackner finished equal 4th to 7th on points in the 7-round “English
Chess Championship” which finished today, and 7th on tie-break in a field
of 33 participants.
In the “British
Championship” only one game is played per day, but here there were two
games per day, which in part explains why the top English players were absent.
So, the entry might not seem strong, by standards, for an event called the
“English Chess Championship”, yet those finishing below Oskar included 1
GM, 2 IMs and 6 FMs!
Round-by-round
coverage appeared on the YCA website, where all of Oskar’s seven games can
be played through on line.
