1938: R J Broadbent in Bradford |
|
On Saturday 01/101938, the current Northern Counties Chess Champion, Reginald Joseph Broadbent, who had joined Bradford Chess Club at the start of the year, gave a simultaneous display to members of the Bradford club and visitors from elsewhere. Of 22 completed games, he won 21, and lost one game, the latter being lost to Lovell Edward Williams who had beaten Capablanca in a similar display on, 08/10/1919 (before Capablanca was World Champion).
One more player had apparently needed to leave before completing his game, so as to catch his train.
