On the evening of Wednesday 05/12/1928, Fred Dewhirst Yates gave a simultaneous display at Rotherham YMCA, taking on 24 opponents at the same time. This was his second visit such to Rotherham, the previous occasion having been in 1923. His score was +21, =1, -2:
On the previous evening he had given a similar display in Harrogate, where he won all his games.
