Edmund Thorold’s Visit to Hull Church Institute Club, 18/01/1882
It was almost an annual occurrence that Edmund Thorold visit to Hull, presumably stopping off en route from his home in the West Country, to visit relatives in Bridlington and thereabouts. On such a visit, on 18/01/1882 he gave a simultaneous display against 11 players.
The British Chess Magazine of 1882, page 61, recorded his results in a simultaneous display given to players at the Hull Church Institute Chess Club, as follows:
The BCM gave only surnames. The leftmost column in the table gives the apparent identity of the Hull players.
